2020 was a bad year for humanity, but on a personal level, there were some glimpses of beauty and opportunities. We were lucky to collaborate with the amazing team at Abjad Design to produce a short animated video for Emirates Women's Day.
At the time, my favorite drawing app on the iPad, Procreate, had just released a new tiny feature that allowed me to animate on the iPad.
Even though the feature was pretty limited and basic, it was so great to finally animate on the go, and this project was the perfect opportunity to try it out.
It wasn't a smooth experience, and I invented a few hacky workflows to make it work, but it was awesome.
And sure, no project is done without a proper logo animation. This one was really interesting; the flag is also a hair wave.
Animating the wave while maintaining the visual style of the logo was key. I ended up breaking the main shape into three shapes with some path animation for each.
